Liberty

Definition

Liberty refers to freedom from fear, coercion, and religious pressure in relation to God.

Context

In the Yeshuan framework, liberty emerges from the completion of covenantal law and condemnation. If reconciliation is established, then fear of divine punishment no longer governs faith. Liberty does not mean absence of responsibility. It means absence of enforced conformity.

Liberty is one of the Four L’s and functions as the environment in which subjective faith develops.

Implications

Liberty removes external control as a mechanism for spiritual growth. It requires individuals to act from conviction rather than compliance.

It also redefines religious participation. One may engage in religious communities without attributing divine authority to them.

Common Misunderstanding

Liberty is often interpreted as license to disregard others. Within this model, liberty is bounded by agape. Freedom does not override relational responsibility.
