Insights on Christians Getting High
"Weed, Faith, and Love: Insights on Christians Getting High" by Shawn McCraney ruminates on the intersection of cannabis use and Christian faith, offering biblical explorations on the topic. It provides a biblical analysis of substance use, discusses ethical considerations for Christians regarding cannabis, and emphasizes personal responsibility and liberty. The book offers practical guidelines gained from personal experience for responsible cannabis use, focusing on safety, legality, and spiritual integrity. It is aimed at Christians, pastors, counselors, and lay leaders seeking to navigate the complexities of cannabis use within a faith context.
Sample: WARNING
If you are under the age to vote, if you have an addictive personality, are on medication, subject to escapism, are pregnant, participate in irresponsible behaviors or have any other factor in your personal life where the use of marijuana might in any way hinder your overall mental, physical, emotional, familial or financial health, DO NOT use THC. If you discover that THC overcomes your freewill ability to act responsibly, or it interferes with the goodness labor provides you and your loved-ones; if you have trouble keeping steady employment, being on time, or making reasonable decisions, throw this book away and walk from using THC.
This book is in NO WAY an endorsement for marijuana use.
Quite frankly, the author has seen THC ruin far too many good people who, for one reason or another, are either unable to control their use of the drug or cannot control the amount of the drug they ingest into their bodies. Please do NOT use this book to justify any unseemly or damaging behaviors, choice or lifestyles that ultimately can be proven to bring harmful results to your life or in the lives of others around you.
Finally, know that the following is the authors overall recommendation for people (especially Christians) and their use of THC,
• Never use it as a way to avoid problems.
• Never use it if you are underage. (Your brain is still cooking before this time)
• Never use it if you are trying to get pregnant (women or men) • Never use it if you are raising a young family.
• Never use it while operating any dangerous mechanized piece of equipment.
• Never use it publicly without informing others around you. • Never introduce nor promote it to a minor or to someone who cannot manage it irrespective of their age.
• Never use it if it will in anyway compromise or interfere in anyway with a responsibility given you.
• Never use it if it becomes an idol (your god.)
• Never use it if you find it controls or consumes you. Let me repeat the following to you before you read this book:
The use of THC is not wrong or evil in and of itself. Like anything on this earth, it is incumbent on the individual to dominate and control all things around them including food, sex, alcohol, anger, material belongings, finances and the like. THC is no different. So read with an open mind on the subject and go as you are led, but be careful . . . THC is powerful and will seek to run your life. Guaranteed.
