Chris used to be a Scientologist and escaped in 2013. In realizing just how deep the rabbit hole of manipulation and deceit of Scientology was, Chris created videos outlining how Scientology works. He then began talking to psychologists, sociologists and former cult survivors across the spectrum as part of his own recovery and this led to completing a Masters degree in the Psychology of Coercive Control. In addition to creating videos and a weekly podcast, Chris also consults one-on-one with cult/coercion victims and helps their family/friends in getting people out of cults. He is currently working on a book about cult recovery which he hopes to have published late this year.

I’m a seminary-trained trauma recovery coach with a focus on the quiet, often unseen process of healing from religious trauma. While training to become a clinical mental health counselor, I’ve specialized in the kinds of wounds that don’t always have a name—especially those caused by spiritual abuse, coercive belief systems, and religious spaces where fear or shame was used in the name of God. I work primarily with individuals who are untangling their faith from harm—whether that means recovering from high-control religious systems, questioning inherited beliefs, or simply trying to make sense of what spirituality means after betrayal or manipulation.
