The Garden of Eden
AI-generated summary
Central Claim: Shawn McCraney addresses the LDS belief that the Garden of Eden was located in Missouri near Adam-ondi-Ahman, challenging this distinctive Mormon theological claim.
Biblical Basis: While the content excerpt doesn't detail specific scriptural arguments, McCraney implicitly opposes LDS geographically-specific Eden theology with an orthodox Christian perspective grounded in biblical Genesis accounts.
Yeshuan Perspective: This episode reflects McCraney's pattern of critiquing LDS doctrinal uniqueness through a lens of subjective biblical interpretation. Rather than accepting LDS prophetic claims about Eden's location, he reasserts authority of personal scriptural examination—central to Yeshuan emphasis on direct engagement with biblical text over institutional authority claims.
Key Issue: The episode demonstrates McCraney's approach to exposing what he views as LDS theological departures from biblical Christianity, particularly when doctrines rest on extra-biblical revelation or prophetic claims rather than explicit scriptural warrant.

Live Show Challenges
In-the-House Tonight
Hey . . . say a prayer for us, will you? Over the past several months we have been having some radical stuff going on here in the studio which seems to occur only when we go live for Heart of the Matter! A number of months ago the whole show was shut down. A few weeks ago, right when we went live, our good friend and cameraman Michael had a full blown grand mall seizure. Lights have run amok flashing and exploding out of nowhere, two weeks ago we had four power outages in the course of one show, and last week, an overhead light fixture came crashing down on the legs of a member of our studio audience! Needless to say, everyone in the audience is wearing helmets tonight! But seriously, folks, we need your prayers for each and every live broadcast.
Remember, the first Monday of March – which is the 3rd – we will be in Tooele for our traveling Pastor in the Pub.
Where: the Denny’s at _______
Time:
Then we will hold an open water baptism for those of you who wish to publicly profess Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your lives and be baptized in His name. Go to www.bornagainmormon.com for more details.
Also, I mentioned last week that we would not be officially holding our weekly Pastor in the Pub at Denny’s on 5th South and 250 West after the show. Well, I need to make an important clarification here: even though I will not be there after the show each week, I will make appearances on occasion and the regulars have informed me that they intend to continue on – with or without me. So we are going to re-title the weekly Tuesday gathering “Pastorless in the Pub.” Just wanted to let you know it is still-a-happening – with or without moi.
The Insipid Debate
Last week we had a caller named Harley call-in from Kolob Canyon, and amidst some otherwise fine observations, he corrected me for saying that the LDS church was “categorically insipid” for _____. Brother Harley, a well spoken chap who sounds like he hails from the Scottish highlands, claimed my phrase should have been “uncategorically insipid” to which I disagreed. After some research, I discovered that Brother Harley was wrong. The Church is NOT uncategorically insipid as this would make them insipid in every area or category. They are not. Only in certain categories – which would make them categorically insipid, and not “uncategorically insipid.” But it’s alright, Harley, Kolob Canyon, from what I hear, is a little light on the oxygen levels.
Now where Harley was wrong regarding my use of the English language, my good friend Sandra Tanner emailed me with another correction I need to consider. Said she:
In this case, I stand corrected, and ever humbled.
Speaking of Sandra Tanner, our book, “I Was A Born-Again Mormon” is available at her ministry bookstore, which is called Utah Lighthouse Ministry. It is also available at:
Christian Gift and Bible in Sandy
Lifeway Books at 5300 South State Street and nationwide.
Sam Weller’s downtown
Oasis Books in Logan
Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, CA
And in Utah Valley? Gift of Grace Christian Supply in Springville.
Naturally, you can get a copy from us at www.bornagainmormon.com
Now listen, we send the book out for free to people who cannot afford it – single parents, parents with large families, unemployed people, disabled people and people on a limited income – we even send them to curious LDS people who are against “supporting” our ministry. But hey, if you can, buy the book from one of our local retailers please. Business is tough, and your going in and purchasing items from them will help keep them in business and will help us to continue to supply others with some life-changing information.
You can get a directory of the places that sell "I was a Born-Again Mormon" at www.bornagainmormon.com
All right, let’s have a word of prayer. SPOKE ABOUT THE LDS BELIEF THAT THE GARDEN OF EDEN WAS IN MISSOURI NEAR ADAM-ONDI-AHMAN.
